The HORIZONS clinical trial,showed a lower rate of major bleeding and adverse clinical events at 30 days with bivalirudin therapy compared with unfractionated heparin plus a GP IIb / IIIa inhibitor in STEMI patients undergoing primary PCI.

HORIZONS Sub-study
New data from the HORIZONS AMI trial suggest that inadequate, early-onset antithrombin and antiplatelet therapy is one of the strongest drivers that lead to early stent thrombosis in STEMI patients undergoing primary PCI with stenting.
